I know quite a few folks have had success shipping boats wrapped in bubble wrap via freight lines such as Old Dominion or Conway. I myself have received both canoes and kayaks (albeit new from a store) shipped via freight. But when I call to ask about shipping a canoe, I don't seem to be saying the right things or something. Companies are either flat out refusing, or insisting it has to be boxed or crated, and quoting way too high prices compared to what I know others have been able to do.
Any who have had success shipping a canoe via a freight company: are there any tips or secrets to make this work?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
