who sells bulkhead saddles?

Post by kilroywashere! »

Im very close to saying the hades with thigh straps and going with a bulkhead for my detonator, just curious as to where i get one. i dont really wanna risk popping more anchors again, and have heard that the bulkhead can actually help in boat control.

thanks for any info

I just bought an OC bulkhead from Blackfly that's looking like it'll work well in my Zoom. I'll need to make slots for the thwarts in the top.

NOC had an Esquif this year, so you could probably work with a distributor to get one from them.

Mohawk is also selling one which wasn't on their website the last time I looked.

Bob, I'm surprised to see you post without mentioning your saddles... Are you taking a break from Weldwood fumes? :) Bob's saddles look pretty great, especially if you are considering a pump.

Build one, its cheap and easy enough if you can make a straight cut with a sharp chef's knife. Which you can if you apply some painters tape and cut along it, even at an angle. About 4-6 hours, more the first time you do it because you have to figure stuff out.

Boat control: best thing I ever did for boat control that was not just boating more - had the impression it improved feedback from and to the boat at around 100% compared to double-strap system in my Spark.

Cheers,

Jan

You can buy them from Esquif retailers... or make your own.

It'd be useful to have a few measurements to compare different saddles.

I found Blackfly's to be snug which is useful since it's easier to cut than add. I'm 5'8", 30" inseam and have large thighs.

The saddle is 8" tall at it's lowest point.
