Ha ha ha! ROTFL  . Shame on Digital Brat for being sexist about her gender  .

The points were well taken by me in that showing skin does sell that product/sport to the viewing public. I was quite taken back by the very small bikinis the women volleyball players were wearing. To me, it said that they needed to wear those because nobody would care about their playing abilities in beach volleyball.

Not trying to stir up a debate on this problem. The James River in Richmond is going to hit flood stage starting tomorrow and should stay high through the weekend. Call me if you can make it Thursday/Friday (804) 405-3767. Permits will need to be attained if the river is at/above flood stage.

where the sexist baboons are

Post by digitalbrat »

I merely made a statement.

The "sexist baboons" are in front of the tube, or behind it.

I merely stated, and stand by that statement, that that is what advertisers are all about. It has nothing to do with sport. But it does have to do with getting shown on TV, which, unfortunately, has become a large part of what the Olympics are about..

My daughter is a successful untra-marathon paddler. She hopes it "never gets into the Olympics". (Very little to worry about, I might add.)

I`m a father of two young paddling daughters ( 8 and 10 years ), my oldest is realy starting to show and interest not only in tripping but moving water. I`ve had them both with me in the Blast ( separate times ) running class III and paddling hard. But the oldest seems to want more of the w/w. I`ve even had her paddling and surfing my Ace C1 down at the bottom of the Gull. ( PRETTY SWEET !!!!! ) I`m not going to push her but I do see a hugh potential with a almost natural ability to paddle. But what kind of bums me out, is by what I`m hearing here is that they don`t have a hope in hades to move their selfs along in national or international competitive w/w paddling ( canoeing or C1 ) if they were wishing to do so.

Maybe the Euros couldn't handle the USA sweep in C2 mixed?

to see young ladies (and men) racing in all boat classes...

The tall young women mentioned previously was Lisa Adams from CO, and is also an awesome downriver racer. There was a C1W junior class at this year's US Cup races with Lisa, Colleen Hickey IL, Shannon Faltak CO. These women are encouraged by their coaches and supported by the race organizers to compete. Megan Stalheim WI was the only women to tackle the Dickerson Nationals in 2002, no C1W takers this year even though the course was high and flat from Potomac flooding. It is rare that C1W have 3 boats to make a class, usually they have to go up against the men.

What I`m realy hoping for is for Toronto to move ahead in the bidding process as an Olympic host. This would push start the St. Cathherines site which would only be 2 hours from my door, giving my girls and alot of young paddlers here in Southern Ontario the opportunity take up the sport. Thus putting more young paddlers in the competitive pool.
