I was wonderring if you were bidding or not- I think you might have been in more serious bidding with someone else.

I think you definately got a nice boat.

I hope to at least be clean. maybe the fast will come with time.

Yeah there was a more contentious bidder named david who i went back and forth on a couple of times. I didnt know whether or not i wanted to continue with the going back and forth. luckily, the limit i set to pay was the one that one. i didnt mean to be brash, or rude by that last statement, i just meant that i saw your screen name amongst the bidders.

I am right now looking into transit via DNA freight. it seems to be the cheapest way that ive found. so i think that will be it unless the buyer finds something cheaper.
cheers
-if only it were spring, and i could have high water for a while.

paddle

Post by bearboater »

Hey bill,
I just saw the drakkar/galasport canoe paddle.
on your website, and was wondering what the difference between that paddle and the gala 3M was? they look to have a similar design?
just thinking cause i need a new padddle,
also saw the mitchell for sale, but am not sure if thats long enough.
cheers.

Issac,

I bought a slalom boat from Marin at Valley Mill eariler this Summer. Valley Mill has a web site and I think you could find an email address there. I also have a old kevlar Noah boat that I have enjoyed that I picked up for $75. You should not have to spend a lot of money to get one of these boats.

I was able to purchase a new boat, not outfitted for $600. The seat height is 5 inches so I can't spend much time in the boat without a break.

I have really enjoyed the experance of paddling the boat and would recommend that you pursue your interest. I paddle a converted Dagger GTX and these longer boats are more forgiving.

These 4 meter boats are more available since the slalom rules were altered allowing for shorter boats to be used.

3m paddle

Post by billcanoes »

Hi Isaac,

I didn't take it personally at all. There was a purple and yellow Zealot on ebay a few months ago and I wish I had bid on that, but I dont think it was in as good of shape as the one you bought. Unfortunaley, I can't buy every boat I want. Are you going to use it for down river too or just racing?

In terms of the paddle I don't think there is a difference between the 3m paddle and the Drakkar label paddle- if there is a difference it's a minor one. Slight curve to the blade- aluminum tip, very light, carbon blade and shaft, wood dowel grip ( I sanded my grip to be more oval, and used tongue oil to seal it)

I definitely intend to paddle this boat alot, in the rivers, there are some great eddy ridden sections of rivers out here that at high water hae no worrry of hitting a rock. Im hoping it will be a good play boat for playing in eddies, and s-turns, surfs, and things of that nature. thats about what i do.
we'll just have to wait and see how it goes the first couple of times i paddle it.
cheers

I'm very old school, but the only boats I own are slalom boats. They are great fun to cruise in, but you do need more depth in waves and holes to play. Of course, they won't do cartwheels and all the current freestyle aerial moves, but then 80% of the paddlers in playboats can't do those things either.

Enjoy!
