Camping Site

Post by Riverscout »

I spoke to someone today at Mountain Lake Campground and would like to make the reservation by the end of this week for Friday night ( 9/18 ) and Saturday night ( 9/19 ). I need to know who is going to be staying so I get the correct sites. Please e-mail me at riverscout@yahoo.com or post here. The plans are UY on Friday, Lower Gauley Saturday, and Upper G or New on Sunday.

FYI - "Not Elvis" will be at this site and is planning to promote diplomatic harmony with our brethern from the Great North!!!

UY Race 9/16 & UG Race on 9/21....

Post by PAC »

The annual Upper Yough Mass-Start Race is being held, as usual, the Wednesday before Gauley-Fest. Any craft welcome, there will be a K-1 long and K-1 short (8'5" and under); and a raft class. If other types of craft show they will have their own class. The entrance fee is $10, and the winner of each class will take the total proceedes for their class (minus a small beer tax).

The course this year will be from the pool above Bastard to probably Double-P; so all you people with Green Boats -- this is your big opportunity to kill it, you will definitely have the advantage!

For those who do not know, the Upper Yough releases all week (Mon-Fri), while there are no releases on the Gauley tues-thurs. So everyone in the area please come and participate, spectate, or help with safety and timing. There's likely to be some serious action between Bastard and National Falls!

Be there by noon to get signed up!

Gezz Tony your mak'n me feel bad. I really can't (as of right now) make a Friday UY run. If that changes prior to ... I'll let you know. But a couple lovely Canadians (Princess Leah and Ginger) will be there and they can easily sweet talk someone into leading them (and you down). They know the lines but just will not admit it ...yet!

I plan to be there on the LG on Sat at the least. Sunday - unknow - UG, NRG (with Mick for a session at the Halls), or Valley falls. So much to do so little time! 8)

So far I have...PAC, Tony, Gumpy, Not Elvis, myself + my shuttlebunny. We have a group site that is good for up to 30 tents so we have room to accomodate more C-boaters. It is going to be about $8.00/night/person. Let me know if you are planning to join us.

I'm not sure if I'll be working those days or not, but if you see me on the river in a C1 wearing a pink helmet, say hello! I'll be up for the UY Tues-Thurs and maybe Mon/Fri depending on work.

Hey y'all,

Ginger, Scott, Terry and I (maybe Mike too) are making the trip to Gauley Fest, paddling at the UY on Friday. Hope to see you there!

Looks like the group is planning to camp at the Festival :( and running the UG on Sat. Not sure what the plan is for Sun but we'll have to put on early cuz it's along drive home.

Looking forward to see you, Leah :D
