uhhuh, methinks someone should have asked "How do I install a C1 saddle" before asking "How do I waterproof the hole I drilled".... hope we are reading that wrong

You can buy marine grade silicone, which would be better than the standard silicone stuff.

Yes, it is called Marine Goop. I use it for holes, around threw hull bolts, and to adhere minicel to PE or minicel to minicel, when I can't use contact cement.

Hot glue seems to work pretty well, sets up in seconds. Seems to bond reasonably well to the poly.

That reminds me, I need to go fill in the one hole I forgot... :-?

there ain't a dang thing wrong with bolting to the bottom of a hull... other than the bolts slowing down your rock boofs. But other than that, big deal. I say good for you!

Hummmm, you see no problem bolting through bottom of a plastic hull??? Well I guess every modern kayak manufacturer seems to understand that bolts catch on things and would cause elongation/cracking at the bolt holes located on the one area that takes the most stress and abuse. So, to contradict Larrys contradiction, I think it's unwise to bolt to the bottom. Especially when it's so easy to modify any saddle system to attach to most hulls current footbrace bolt holes. Glassing in a stud to the floor of a glass boat seems like it would work well though.

Where does the fancy saddle you make bolt too Larry?

From knowing Tony, I'm guessing that he's smart enough not to actually put a bolt through the bottom of the hull, but rather low down on the sidewall. I've done that on a few boats for knee straps and haven't had any rock-related problems, even though they did hit rocks.

 says the guy that hacked up a perfectly good classic cruzing boat

did i not say that the bolts might slow your rock boofs? I guarantee that, and the stigma, are the only problems. cracking? it's a long shot.

It's done and it's no big deal, cut him some slack.

I paddled an open boat with eight bolts through the bottom for years and never even noticed them. no leaks, no cracks, no catching on rocks.
and my straps and foot braces never failed

holes I drilled are just about at or above(find out tomorrow) the waterline on I guess what you might call the side wall, not far from where some boats bolt their foot rails. one of th things I like about this boat when I bought it years agowas the lack of holes on the wet side of the boat. I had to add two bolt holes for the dagger saddle.

putting holes in boats make me nervous.

I went with jeremy's minicell idea, because I had lots a scraps around he called me smart.

Uhhuh, and there you stand... alone, with holes in the bottom of your boat! :) hahahahhahaha

BTW, that 'cruzin' boat is making a good squirt boat.

Hey dont use me as fuel for your red can blue can squabbles, you can put holes in the nottom of your c1 or cut your oc1 in half for all I care. Im just tryin to outfit a boat.

BTW looks like the stretch is gonna be a pretty cool playboat/river runner for us big guys.
