Whatever your level, ww paddling takes a set of cojones.
Paddling is easy, organizing shuttles is hard.
Not misplacing all your crap in somebody else's car seems to be even harder

Re: Rolling in Holes
Yeah, at 38s he switches to lefty to have his onside roll on the downstream side. But at some point when his boat is flipping around into the 50s range, he's switched back to righty and ended up trying offside rolls.
Maybe you lose track of what's pointing where and which side is which after a while, or maybe you just wear out to the point where another roll in the hole is only going to lead to another, and another. If you're going to roll up and surf out, it probably needs to happen sooner rather than later, or you just wind up tired and riding your downsteam brace/roll, but probably not getting anywhere. Speculative discussion, I don't paddle like that, just wish I did.

Re: Rolling in Holes
Rolling to your normal/onside in a hole, usually I don't think about it much, nor setup. Tuck, get calm, then place the paddle across the deck/gunwales and the boat automatically rolls up. Be ready not to windowshade again.

Taking a beating is a massively overlooked skill and it's one which makes a big difference to your confidence too...

Hey, that beatdown took place right here in Michigan on the Black River.
