punch in whitehaven Pa into google and see how far that is for you. See how excited you are about that trip and let me know. The river is the lehigh (pa) and probably the best suited river to your skill in the winter. The pool session is in Allentown, Pa. You stand a good chance of squaring away your canoe choice and even getting a roll in one day. I could maybe help you try and get hooked into another group for sunday paddling as well.

BTW - what rivers/creeks have you paddled in your kayak?

Wayne,
We fly into NJ on June 30th. I am only off work for 1 week so I will be flying out the following weekend, probably Saturday July 7th. I am not sure what we are plans are, my wife's family lives there. When we get closer we can discuss what day would be best for you. I am 6' and 200 so it will be a tight fit into your boats. We could run a class 2-3 river or even flopping around in a pool would be fine. As for my roll, its not there yet but I am so close I can almost taste it. I just got a drysuit today (I am tired of freezing my butt off) so I will be in my pool often. Your latest video was very helpful. I am paddling a 8 mile class 2 section of a river on Sunday, it will be the most aggressive section I have done in the Maxim. It has bulkhead outfitting as well but it seems almost a bit small for me. I did some trimming on it today to get my knees further into the outfitting but my tailbone is still almost hitting the back thwart that holds the back of the saddle. I want to add an inch or two to the saddle height but that might make it more unstable due to I am raising my center of gravity??? I will keep you posted, thanks again,
Dave

Vacation in NJ.....SERIOUSLY :o

I've boated in Maine the last couple 4th of July long weekends. We'll just have to wait till Late June to see if this is gonna work out. Even if I'm not around I might be able to hook you up.

Yeah that looks doable...I would have to head down the night before I think, since it is about five hours from here, but doable.

I don't know about the Sunday Paddle, I would have to check with the wife.

As for rivers/creeks.
In this area I have paddled the Deerfeild, Housatonic (not bulls bridge yet though) and the Blackstone. Up north I have paddled lots of different rivers, from the Yukon to Vancouer Island to Nova Scotia...and places in between.

I have no illusions about the roll, while I have a solid kayak roll, I have never really tried to roll, at least not more than 50 % of one.

It doesn't look like I will be able to make it down until later in the month, things keep piling up.

No, I am going to raft it. I got a 14' SB last year and AZ had such a lack of snow I was only able to use it twice. Looking forward to taking it on some bigger water.
