Acceleration can be a little more complicated... acceleration to cruising or top speed? Acceleration of different boats to the same speed? A sprint canoe may take 5 strokes to get to top speed while a L'edge may take two... yet the top speed of the sprint is greater and in one stroke the sprint may be at better speed than the top speed of the L'edge. A 17' Old Town may accelerate to the L'edges top speed slower than the L'edge, but have greater top speed
