I'm not a rolling wizzard myself, so take it with a little grain of salt, but anyhow, my 0.2$.
to me it looks:
- that you're still leaning strongly to the stern of the boat in the setup
- you need quite some pressure on the blade for the last bit
- your head stays low, that's good, but you also use your head for the last part (I pleed guilty there myself too)
- your boat is not moved as much with your hip-snap as you might think, that is for sure a key point for improvement. If the lower body does it's work right, you hardly need any pressure on the blade. Especially the last part of the roll, when the hips keep driving the boat to neutral position, you hardly need pressure on the blade and you don't need to counterbalance with your head. But keeping driving the boat to neutral in the second part of the roll is the hardest for most people.
Anyhow, now this roll is reliable in the pool, take it to the river, and try to roll every time you tip over. You might fail, but the mental game is part of learning to roll on the river! And keep on rolling in the pool, there you can focus on technique.
critique my roll?
