My home run is called the Vorderrhein, it is in Canton Graubünden, Switzerland. The Vorderrhein is one of the two rivers that joins to become the Rhein that then flows out of Switzerland, up through Germany, Holland and into the North Sea.

The most popular paddled section is from Ilanz to Reichenau; Ilanz to Versam(where I live) is 10KM of class 2/3 with one class 4 rapid, Versam to Reichenau is 10KM of class 2.

In the middle of the Ruinaulta, deep gorge.

The coolest shuttle in the World, the train!

It is possible to paddle the Vorderrhein all year round; high water in Spring or Summer with between 150 and 250 cumecs, 5000CFS to 9000CFS and low water in Winter with just 20cumecs, 700CFS. Not many of the locals go in the river in the Winter because 20minutes drive from the put in is one of Switzerlands biggest and best ski areas with Europes biggest halfpipe!

If anybody wants to come and paddle one of the most beauiful rivers in Europe just drop me a mail,

Enjoy the snow,

James

Not quite as impressive as the Alps, but the slide at 0:45 is the last drop on the creek dgmonster (C1'ing the green diesel) mentioned. It is 8 min from my door, and probably the same from Dave's. To our knowledge, he and I are the only people to have run this creek in its entirety. It's gorge is actually very scenic, and has some more cool slides in it.
