Looking for Colorado River info..
by PAC
Hey folks I might get a shot at the big creek next summer. Where would I get the best info. on the Colorado / Grand Canyon?
Looking for info for self support trip info. and outfitter info. (raft rental). Any help would be appreciated.
Unfortunately I might have to raft it. But at least I might have a shot at getting on.
Thanks ahead of time..

Canyon R.E.O.
by Scott B.
http://www.canyonreo.com/index.asp

The folks with whom I was going to go this August did a good bit of research, including meeting with other folks who had gone recently and sent an "RFP" to two of the major outfitters (only?) that cater to the private boater - Canyon R.E.O. responded quickly and has been responsive since then. They will put together a package that includes the bare minimum (rafts, toilets, required eqpt) all the way up to providing every single meal, the stoves to cook them on, and assistance in getting through your inspection with the NPS rangers. The brochure says the deluxe package includes "play boats" - their "for sale" page includes a Cascade and a Slasher (on the *kayak page*), so you might have some options even if you don't haul your own. [there are at least two schools of thought on boat choice : long cruiser or short play boat...]

Good luck!

I'll check them out. Question on the RFP - any way I can get a draft copy so I can use it as a base line for my inquiries (I know it's a stretch to ask but.... ) ! Thanks for the info. Keep me posted on how things work out on the August trip (sounds like your not going - ??? hope you are! ) I appreciate any feed back. CU PAC
