Ahh... the bliss of 8.5" saddle and inflatable ankle blocks ...

It was just amazingly nice to have NO foot, ankle or knee pain at all today.

I have outfitted my Riot Grind (huge cockpit) with and 8.5" saddle and my latest invention, inflatable ankle blocks.

I just took some water wings (don't know the name in the US -- inflatable armbands for teaching kids to swim). These ones have two air compartments, making a nice channel to rest your ankle in. I just hooked them on to a piece of bungee cord and had them loose (no loops!) with the bungee secured from the stern wall.

Mega comfy!

Adding 2.5" to the saddle meant vastly less compression on my big feet and ankles, and the stability hardly suffered at all, much to my surprise.

That's good to hear . . .

That's good to hear about the stability part. I was wondering. I'm coming back from knee surgery, so I think I'm going to have to raise the old seat for a while (it's only 5" right now). I'm gonna go find me some duct tape and foam . . .
