Yeahaa! C1 Special fun
by NZMatt
So, I've been messing around in an WW OC for two seasons now after two prior years of WWkayaking. I've been really wantintg to try a C1 playboat and recently traded my prozone 225 K1 (which was too small for me to make into a C1 without being in a permanent bow stall) for a friend's Bliss Stick Blitz Special. Picked up an old pedastal , made some modifications, duct taped the sucker in (to figure out positioning and all) and hoped in the pool. Yeahaa! That thing is fun, even in the pool.
So now I'm psyched to finish the conversion - I need to bolt the pedastal (which turns out to be an old gyromax one I think) in place (or should I just go ahead and make a foam one from scratch - any opinions?), build myself some hip huggers and a foot system of some sort and I'll be ready for the spring (not to mention messing around in the pool this winter of course). Ahh the joys that await!
Look forward to seeing you all on the water come spring. Hey Kalin - are you going to be in Ottawa in early December?

i have an old pedastal from a slalom boat in mine not, better that forking out £80+ for a load of foam from the local canoe shop. my whole conversion is looking quite cheap, and can be taken out 'in the field' to be replaced with kayak fittings if my knees give out again..

check out the post idea that was presented in this forum a couple of weeks ago. the desinger took a five inch square PVC fence post and installed it as a base rail. He then built off of it.

I'll be around!

Matt,
I should be around for all of December....drop me a line if you are headed this way. We've got a tonne of pool sessions lined up and there's great paddling in and around town. Depending on weather we might even be able to swing a few day trips here or there...right James?
Otherwise bring a snow board or some xc skiis and let's hit the Gatineaus!
Hope to see ya. Why are you coming and where are you staying?
Kalin.
