by marshwater
some friends and i are trying to plan a trip up north this spring for some creekin'. we are thinking in early may. will this timeframe ensure creeks to be running? what are some to shoot for? do any of you want to hook-up and boat a run or two?
any help would be appreciated!

thanks,
ronnie

smalls falls and chandler mill creek are really cool. it's park and creek. both are at the same place. they connect after the drops are done. big wilson is another. these aren't creeks, but are really fun, sebomook and canada falls. gulf hagas is a serious creek run as well. if all goes well may should be kicking. oh, these are in maine

Spring...
by Sir Adam
Greetings....

It depends on where you're going-peak water in the Adirondacks is usually 2nd / 3rd / sometimes 4th weekend in April. Yes, it's COLD. We're talking snowmelt here. May can be GREAT with high water and warmish weather, or miserable with cold weather and no water...and let's not forget our friends the Black Flies:) (peak for them is historically memorial day weekend...you'll want full gear (drysuit of full wet suit) for the bug protection regardless of the weather...).
That said, there's some great stuff about:). Check out the northeast paddlers message board (npmb.com) for tons of info....

C-ya...possibly this spring!
