I'm seriously thinking to buy a Prelude, cause It's impossible to find used OC1 in Italy (i think i'm the only oc1 creeker round here!!) i must buy it new (and is quite impossible to resale it) i want be sure i will not go wrong....
Is it quite dry? (like the mohawk probe? less? more?)
Is it quite easy to roll? (like the spanish fly? less?)
Is it quite stable? (like the spanish? less? how less?)
Is it easy to boof? (like the spanish?)
Other?
Thank in advance

Hi Paolo,
Like you, I am trying to get my hands on a Prelude. I think I've spent about three days in one (open water seems a long time ago - pretty well everything is still under lots of ice here) and have paddled the other boats you want to compare it to.
I suspect the Prelude is drier than a Mohawk Probe, only because there is less space to put water. Also, the Prelude is a lot more manouverable than the Probe, so it should be possible to keep the boat drier by paddling more aggresively.
I think the Prelude is about the same to roll as the Spanish Fly.
I've paddled a Spanish Fly and the Prelude is less stable. The Prelude is pretty narrow, friends of mine who paddle Quakes find the Prelude very narrow.
As for boofing, going off the lip seems to work OK, but you are landing on a narrower platform than you are with a Spanish Fly. The volume in the ends of the Prelude should make for some direr landings, however.
Good luck finding your boat.
