Necky Zip as a c-1?

Post by HazMatt »

Howdy. I have a chance to pick up a converted Zip for a good price. Does anyone have any experience with this boat as a c-1? My 2 concerns are that the boat will be too edgy for a semi beginner ( paddled a switch k-1 once and I thought it was edgy, but I was also kinda loose in it), and 2, the narrow cockpit. Any thoughts or comments appreciated. Thanks!

CP too narrow

unless you weigh 140 or have tiny bird legs the cockpit is too narrow. i weigh 180 and have bird sticks and could only stay in a blunt for 2 minutes. the blunt has same CP as the zip. otherwise the boat would be great.

It's a great boat for big guys althought the cockpit is narrow, but the space "in" the cockpit is enough. If you stay low enough you'll have no problem with the cockpit.
