weak side OC2 rolls

Partner and I normally roll up from the left in OC1- when paddling together I paddle on the right. No problem rolling up our OC2 from the left- I just switch my grip.

Challenge is falling down to the right and coming up on the left. Is is better to tuck forward and wait until the canoe is completely upside down or to sweep or scull around to the surface. Trying to avoid knocking partner on the head is also a challenge..

Any tips from (O)C2 rollers?

Thx -OC.

When the boat flips right and the tandem team rolls left, if the sternsman is a lefty, then he/she can do a back deck/stern deck/helicopter roll :o (as you swing your torso around from right-to-left, keep the paddle stretched out in front of you and keep the blade angled so it is always sweeping on the surface, then roll :D ). The bowman will bow sweep and switch hands, somehow without losing the paddle. This type of roll sets the stern paddler up for a very strong roll and can probably do the roll all by him/herself. Just requires a little bit of cooperation from the team

Have fun!
