this is mainly for Sir Adam, whom I know usually sends his "greetings" from the Adirondacks . . .

Sir Adam (or anyone else) -- I'm going to the Boreas tomorrow -- what can I expect? I have heard lots of wild rumors. The Hudson is running at 6.6.

Any help appreciated,
Alden

Greetings...

Have fun! Should be an OK run-I have yet to do it (usually Hudson has to be 4.5+ to run Boreas, and at that point the Hudson is class IV ish and the Boreas is IIIish, so I usually do the Hudson Gorge. One of these days though..).

Boreas is interesting because the last section is basically a snaky class III rapid -- that lasts for 2 miles, with absolutely no let-up. i kept bracing for a huge rapid around the next blind corner, but it never came. it was cool though to be rolling along for two miles, crashing through big waves. i must have eddied out twice, briefly, then it was me vs the Boreas again. it reminded me of seeing those guys crashing down mile after mile on the North Fork of Payette on Paddlequest video

i couldn't believe how much snow there was back there already, added to the three or so inches that piled on my car during our run. there's going to be some more water over there, that's for dam sure
