I'm not really dead yet.

Just checked the gauges to see what was available for a run on Friday for Pete and I. And things look BIG.

Big Sandy is 8.5 feet (!!!)
Top/Upper Yough are 3.3 feet (!!!)

LOWER YOUGH is 7.5 feet (& rising?)(!!!)

Stonycreek river in PA is 3.5 feet (!!!)
Cheat Canyon is 4.3 feet (!)

We might be held to the Bloomington for both days. Although I would like to mention that the Shenandoah is running at about 4 feet, which is an awesome playing level.

If you are coming out for Friday, please be careful.

Bloomington both days sounds great. <gulp> :-?

Looking forward to seeing everyone. We can decide how to do things Sat. morning. I'm totally cool with NB both days or something else local of more or less equivalent rating...

I just got off the phone with some lads in WV (including Warren) and everything is going off in that area!
I also checked the gauges and J speaks with wisdom. 8)
Here are some alternatives for thr Lower Yough tomorrow (I most likely can't make it do to a four letter word spelled "work").
Indian Creek - A shelf drop like the NBP just make sure you get some locals to lead - both the run and the suttle. Watch out for "Terminator" if the level is juicy! Make sure of the level - if it's too low it really sucks! If its too high..... :o
Meadow Run - Right outside Ohiopyle and dumps into the Yough. More like creeking if it is running. Everything can be walked. The "Cascade" is easier than it looks and 7' Fall is more dangerous than it looks. Make sure you get out (creek left) and walk the last drop ("The Slides") I've seen it run twice - both times the paddler came up bloody. :( If your waiting for others at the Loop put in tomorrow the Meadow is about a 1/8 mile down the Yough, river left. Its a real nice / short hike - go creek right - it's easier.
Cassleman - It's at 4+ which makes it easier, yet pusher! Located outside Confluence PA. Do the Markleton to Fort Cherry section. Right now this it the best choice if you have not paddled a lot lately.
Laurel Hill - Very long (16 miles) and II. Strainers and, oh.... long!
Of course there are a number of other smaller / bigger (Youghs and BS) items that you can paddle too - just be careful.
For those coming in from the West or North the Slip (Slippery Rock is at 1- which is an "ok" to low level. It is located right off interstate 79, south of interstate 80 and north of the PA turnpike. Pretty straight forward and deep creek. There are a couple strainers right now but you can river scout those very easily. AWA has a link to a really well down write up. If you have time do Kenndys Mill to Breakneck bridge. If not do the Ranger station to the Bridge. There are always boaters about so you should be good to hook up with a local.
If I can make it tomorrow I'll be there at the lower put in about 2:30. Otherwise I'll see you in the AM on the NPB!

I agree water water everywhere. What are your thoughts on the following streams. Let's talk this afternoon if possible, I would like to know your thougths and maybe ways to check gauges on Saturday afternoon.

Gandy Creek into the Dry fork of the Cheat.
Dolly sods to Smoke Hole Caverns (Hopeville Canyon)

And as always, we should keep an eye on the Savage
