Thanks to Jim Graham, Scott Broam and Paul Cline, I now have a squirt boat (from the recent boat ID posting, I'd guess maybe it's an Edge). However, the cockpit is tight. I'm going to extend it toward the bow about an inch and a half.

Should I attempt to form a combing to connect with the remains of the old one, or should I just cut a bigger opening and start all over with a new combing? If the latter, I could make it match the Atom's cockpit so I wouldn't have to get a new skirt.

Any thoughts/advice?

I'd leave as much of the old rim as possible. And find saws-all blades meant for fiberglass, if you can (that much I've learned from the de-construction of the Maven!). use foam insulation strips to form the new rim, and layup glass over it.

I have a C-1 that is based on a Cuda Max hull- the cockpit is too small for me. I would be interested in more detaile info as to the glasing tecnique to make this bigger. I never thought about makin it bigger before but would be a good idea. I had a couple of bad swims out of it so hven't paddled it much. I like to be able to get out a little easier.
