A call for boaters to help with swim course in river

I am coordinating the swim course once again for the XTerra triathlon that will be in Richmond on Sunday, June 22 and I am still looking for more swim safety boaters. The James River is the location for the swim and I will have the competitors in a fairly decent area to do the swim. What I need is as many boaters in the water as I can get to help keep the swimmers pointed in the right direction and give support to the swimmers if they feel they need to rest or are losing their confidence. So far, nobody has dropped out of the swim over the past 5 years and I really hope to keep this record going.

Please call me if you are willing to help out. The perks are: an Xterra t-shirt, cold bottled water, sports drinks, lunch, and knowing that you helped some competitors take on a really big challenge.

Alas, that would be the best way to recruit boaters to show up :D , but we will be imbibing on what the Xterra people have available for the competitors :-? . Who knows, if you hang around after the race, there just may be a keg or two at the post race party, but no promises  .

I still need additional boaters, so call me if you want to help.

I'd love to help out, but I'm far away and already committed to paddling-related volunteering that day. River Fest! Well, not just paddling, but that's where I'm volunteering for a couple hours; the rest of the day I'll be enjoying the music and general fun.
Cardboard canoe races!
Wish I was young enough to take part in that; kids only. Ah well, get to take pictures, anyway.

Good luck with the race, KNeal; both finding folk to help and in keeping the swimmers safe :)

I'll help

Hey KNeal,
Count me in for Sunday. I just got in from work & it's too late to call you tonight. My Cascade is a great safety boat. Can you send me directions from I-95? Or you can call me at 252-230-9948.
