Would an ID make a good C-1? Help out a cluesless kayaker!

I just got a new boat, so I've got an extra ID sitting around. I might sell it, but I was thinking of trying it as a c-1. I've never C-1'd before. I've been doing whitewater k-1 for 5 years now and spent a fair bit of time paddling cedar strip canoes when I was younger (as if thats gonna help me now!).

Is this a good idea? Or am I just setting my self up for for a major butt kicking?

The ID would likely be a decent playboat C1, but it would be a tough boat to learn in. If you're willing to put the time in, I think the ID would be alright, but expect to paddle nothing harder than class III in it for a while.... Which ID BTW? The bigger one would of course be easier. I paddle a spin (45 galons) and every 'yaker that has gotten in it has been at least a little humbled (and several have swam out)

I know a guy who paddles an Id C-1, I forget which size. I played around in it in the pool a bit. At 5'10'' 185lbs (but short legs) I found it easy to fit into and even easier to throw around.
Since I paddle an OC-1, and don't own a playboat yet, I also found it nearly impossible to paddle in a straight line. Surprisingly, I found it had reasonable initial stability as long as it was being paddled hard.
The dude has it set up with a Dagger pedestal including the foot pegs, and I liked that a lot.
I think he checks out this forum now and again, but I will forward him this thread so he can put his 2cents in.
Bottom line- although I only paddled it in the pool, I could see me running class III in it to get to the play spots. I have no idea what I could do with it then, but I would get an ID for my first playboat if the opportunity arose.

Hey mine is a 6.9 with a dagger pedestal. I really like the boat. It is my first c1. the boat is very slicey so it initiates very easily. if you paddle kayak in ww you should have no problem with stability. Although your center of gravity is higher in a c1. I really like the boat. I've only had it on smaller stuff but it could do what it's designed to do as a kayak in c1 mode no problem.
