Howdy,

I'm new here and want to convert a Dagger CFS into a C-1 and was wondering if anyone had seen this done before. Also, where can I find thigh straps and how do I install them?

North Water at http://www.northwater.com/index.html sells outstanding thigh straps, lap belt, etc.

You might have to email them and ask about their lap belt since I don't recall seeing it on their web site.

As for the installation you have many options. Try the outfitting link on the right at this C-forum or cboats site. Also try the search feature since there is lots of past information on conversions in general (ie not specifically on the CFS).

I know several CFS kayakers but no CFS C1s so please keep the forum updated on how the conversion worked out.

Check out kayakoutfitting.com and look at their article on installing the dagger saddle. I use the dagger saddle and love it. Its around $50 and requires some more foam to make it work, but not too much... maybe a few feet of 1" for the knee pads and 2-3 feet of 3" for the saddle and the pedestal. Hope that helps

Check out the gallery, outfitting and related photos on this site for ideas. You can also scan through the posts for info and ideas. There is a lot of info. on what some prefer verses what others hate.
Lots of experts on straps (single, double, blocks, etc), seat set up (height, sloping, sizing, etc.), etc.
Good luck and let us know if you have questions.
Also post where you are located at so local C1ers might volunteer to help you out on your project but letting you check (look or play with) out theirs!
For some unknown reason most C boaters have more than just one boat - some sort of addiction.

i had a friend who paddled the cfs as a c-1. i dont recall him saying much about its performance, but he took it down some hairy large steaming pile of dog doo, that's for dam sure! just make sure that it's wide enough that you'll feel balanced. because c-1s need to be wider than yaks! i found this out the hard way by converting a micro 240 -- very very tippy! people get in it and have no idea how i paddle flatwater in it, let alone creek it!

anyway, i cant remember what the cfs's hull is like, but beware those narrow, round hulls. they can be tippy. judge for yourself
