Outfitting: back support in kayak conversion

Post by (O)C »

Looking for ideas/options for installing the back pad in my kayak conversion C-1. It is currently attached with a long strap to the thwart which holds the bulkhead on the front which is easy to get tangled up in during a wet exit.

What kind of other system(s) are U boaters using?

try building a foam wall. i built mine so that it has a lip on the edge that locks on to the cockpit rim. it comes out easy, and allows you to get out of the boat easier.

backrest

Post by Mike W. »

When I built my seat I included a backrest. They are both made of minicell. To firm up the backrest I formed a piece of poyethelyne that attaches to the screw holes for the 'yak back-band. It comes foreward from there to meet the foam & turns down. Foam is glued to poyethelyne.
