Hi all,

I am just in the process of buying one of the above boats for creeking.

Can anyone give a few tips on fitting / conversion. They are all used Kayaks, so no real fitting done.

On outfitting - well... its a personal thing as you most likely already know. I believe there are a couple threads on this site about set ups but for some reason I'm "search" challenged this week.
The only boat you mention that I have not seen as a C is the Mutant and I think I remember Bernie saying it was a good choice (correction if wrong please)! The others used different set up so it depends on your comfort zone.
If you want different ideas post you email address an ask for photos. There are some reaaly sweet set ups out there (RT, Team etc, etc). Mine are butt ugly but I'll send you them too!

Interesting set of choices for creek boats. I paddle a wavesport Y, set up with a foam bulkhead, thigh straps and a 6 inch saddle. I have heard from kayakers that the mutant can be a good kayak, but for lighter boaters only.

From the look of the CFS I don't think it would make a good C1 creekboat, much like I don't think the micro series would work well either. But I haven't tried either, so what do I know.

Search the c forum on outfitting ideas and on creekboats, you'll find a decent amount of info.

Post how it all works out, whatever you set up!

i had a friend who disliked the CFS for some reason, although i cant recall why. but i trust his judgement. he was about 150 lbs. also, like the above poster, i have heard the mutant is only for "before dinner paddling" (that is, lighter paddlers!)

the Y looks like a good choice to me because it's wide and big.

i paddle a micro 240 myself, and it's like driving in vermont in the winter with your windows down: You can get used to it, but it aint a great idea!

I don't think the mutant would be a good c1 'cause has a very rounded bottom.
I think the bliss stick life styler would be a great creecker c1, 'cause is not too short, a lot wide and flat bottom. Anybody tried it?

I read a bit in older threads and found that many people dislike the CFS. Their arguments were sound, I think.

I am now trying to get a Blunt or a H3 because I found someone in BC who might sell me one of those boats (I hope) as a kayak.
