Maheu Boats Canoe question (flat water boat)

Post by PAC »

I have a question about a flat water canoe. Hey it is a canoe....
I recently pick up a Les Bateaux Pago produced by Maheu Boats (A. Maheu Boats) Perkiinsfield, Onario, Canada. The boat looks to be a design off of a Polynesian island boat.
It has not seen water since 1979 and needs some repair, but overall is in surprisingly good shape. The thwarts and seats are set in an odd configuration and need replaced, along with some structural work and glass work (it’s fiberglass). I would like to restore it to as close to original as possible. However, I could not find any info on Maheu Boats on the Internet, let alone anything about this design. I guess I’m also curious as to the boat’s history, etc.
So I’m asking if any of our Northern c-brothers have knowledge of this type of history.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.... :)
