Amoeba

It's coming soon. Made the first 2 last week, a bit behind schedule. Stay tuned for photos, as soon as I read the directions for this new fangled camera and figure out how to use it.
C-1 10.5 long, 26" wide, designed off an Estanguey by Larry Norman.

What type of C1 will it be - river runner, creeker? What sorts of layups will be available?

I'm not comfortable with those terms "river runner" or "creeker". I guess it can go anywhere you'd like to take it. It has blunt ends and the rails of the Estanguey. I think a 4 layer deck and a 6 layer hull will be adequate. That's what the first 2 boats have, plus reinforcements. A 5 layer hull might be adequate, or if you're gentle on boats, a beefy 4 layer hull.

The Boat looks great! I didn't notice any weasel tracks in the snow. I assume the pics were taken outside your shop in their domain. What gives? Can we try it out at your home away from home in two weekends? It looks like a great snow C1.

What kind of racing is this boat designed to do? Doesn't really look much like a slalom boat or a down river boat to this play-boater's eyes. Or is the classification on the site as a race boat a misnomer (for lack of a better term)?

When news of the Amoeba first surfaced I heard about it as a new race boat, and that the slalom specs had changed.
So far I'm still hearing they've changed, and would like to update the Race page, but I haven't found what too, or if the Amoeba fits them!
So, if someone would kindly let me know the new slalom boat race specs, I"ll post them, and if the Amoeba belongs in the Rec boats, it will be moved there....

The SLR Committee recommend
There has been much useful feedback from the Slalom Website on this issue. The SLR Committee recommend that the minimum length rule be removed 2005. Width and weight rules should remain as at present. The rational for this proposal is as follows. The reduction of the length of boats is good for the development of the sport, especially the Development Programme. It is essential to retain width and weight for safety. It is also important to retain the minimum course length so that any changes in boat design are gradual. It is not the intention to promote radical changes in boat design or in the nature of slalom racing.
