Rumor has it that Bell has purchased the mold for the Ocoee from Dagger. Their website neither confirms or denies this.

Has anybody heard anything about this? More to the point- will they be making any other old Dagger designs, like maybee the Phantom?

Also, could this be a way for Dagger to honor their existing warranty commitments?

stay tuned...

BTW, still lookin' for a used Phantom or Ocoee, as long as it's not a wreck.

Kevin,
Hey, it's sean whats happening? I talked to dagger today about another subject and also asked about the molds. they told me that bell does have the mold for the ocoee, I asked him specifically about the phantom, and he said he didn't think they would be doing that boat. However he doesn't work for bell, so who knows,.They are doing the prodigy and nexus by bob foote, so why not the phantom and maybe a rival. He mentioned that bell was helping them with warranty so if you have some sort of issues with your ovation, you should give dagger a call. Take care.

Kevin,

I read the same as what Sean said on the web-site of the "Kanu Magazin", the German canoe and kayak magazine.
They also mentioned that Bell had the mold for the Ocoee and was going to make them starting this year. It also said that they were not going to produce any of the other Dagger boats, but that they were going to cover all the warranty issues concerning all the former Dagger boats.
I guess they are not going to make any of the Bob Foote designs because Bob is deigning new models for Bell.

...the Ocoee is already in the Bell price list. As far as I know, it is available for the next season. The price list is on their web page.

Just got off the phone with a Sales Rep at Bell.

They're currently accepting orders for the Ocoee. They have not started production yet, but anticipate that the boats will be available for March. Apparently they're moving buildings so that;s slowing things down a bit.

There are a number of resellers that sell Bell boats all over the place. You can order from any of them. Price is (should be) 1050 USD. Wood Gunnels are $200 USD extra. Outfitting is USD $300 or so, it's Bell's custom outfitting, w/ a bob foote saddle (bob foote makes saddles?!? - perhaps he meant Mikey)

It's Frankie Hubbard's mould, they've NOT modified it at all.

Currently there are no resellers in Ontario, but there is one in Manitoba.

HTH, Mike.

What's the difference?

What's the difference between Frankie's Ocoee and the Dagger one? I have an old Viper 11 laying around because I can't bring myself to part with it. I suspect I would like the Frankie model better than the Dagger one. Anyone care to elaborate?
Thanks,
Jeff Hoff

Frankie's Ocoee should be the same as Dagger one, since he designed the boat for Dagger.
As far as I know until the recent sale of the mold to Bell, all Ocoees ever made were by Dagger.
