Robson Red Fred

Post by Craig Smerda »

...so I was finally able to give 'ol Fred a spin in the pool this evening.... and I've gotta tell you... it's gonna be a fun summer!
The boat is extremely stable sitting flat, and on all stations. Super easy to stand it up on the stern and spin it around like a top, then a quick transition to the bow. The volume around the front of the cockpit is great and it should ride really well in a hole, it also rolled up nicely every time. I do have a gut feeling that it won't be a ideal river runner as most spuds aren't, but terribly enjoyable for park and play.

This boat was demoed (flogged) by my kayakin' friends last year and everyone of them said it was one of the loosest boats they have ever paddled. I can't wait to get it on a "good" wave which is where it really shines.

These are my first impressions of the boat in a pool and my saddle, bulkhead and hip grabbers weren't glued together but jammed in to determine placement. Also I was using a nylon sprayskirt that allowed more water inside than a screen door.
