Anyone ever paddled a Dagger Quake? I have heard the hull is great on creeks and steep stuff . . .

ok, i just did a search on here, and, like, wow, lots of info on the quake.

Adam -- do you own a quake, and if so, is there a chance i could take her out for a run sometime?

The Quake is good in the hole, but I think it's the wettest of the rodeo OC's. Check out a Spanishfly or even a Superfly. They are drier in every respect. You can run them down pritneer anything.

I have a Quake and I think it is pretty dry (I also paddled Spanish Fly).
It boofs very easily and has not the sharp edges. That makes it a good creeker in my eyes. The only problem I see with that boat is its slowness.
The boat does not hold its speed. But it does accelarate descent.
On bigger drops, bow deflections are a problem.

I think the Spanish Fly is the better allround boat.

Alden, are you looking at getting an openboat for creeking? I've been wanting to get a Spanishfly for a while to mess around in on easier creeks. I think it would be a lot of fun paddling an openboat on creeks, and maybe a little more comfortable. Let me know if you get one, I'm curious as to how it works out.

a c-1 friend told me that he thought the quake was the best hull he ever paddled for creeking -- much better than the Blunt even, which I love. he claims it was much more stable and held a line better because it was "the optimum length -- 9 ft -- for a c-1." I dont know, I paddle a lot of tight stuff, but sometimes I do wish I could hold a line a bit better. it just made me curious to try the quake. I do think it would be fun to creek in an oc-1, but I was thinking more along the lines of, let's just say, future c-1 design ideas! . . . You never know!
