Replacing grab loops

I'm sanding down and repainting the top of my glass boat and would like be able to remove the grab loops, sand/paint and then reinstall them instead of trying to work around them. Problem is, they are installed as in the picture;

And there is a pillar installed all the way down to the ends of the boat and there dosen't seem to be to reinstall them so they look like they are now. As a last resort I was thinking of installing something like what is on my H3;

but I don't really like the thought of using a bolt type attachment on glass. Has anyone had to replace grab loops before on a glass boat or could possibly offer me some suggestions?

Thanks, and I hope I did the image thing right.

are typically installed before the halves are joined. I would leave the original straps in or fiber glass new straps to the top of the deck. The mechanical angle is not a good idea because glass can be modified very easy.

Best leave glassed in grab loops intact. Tape and Saran Wrap them, maybe wax and PVA, and spray around them.
