....chris ennis flipped in front of a gate and didn't roll up quickly enough. Looks like the US is out in C1. C2 should be interesting the course is really fast with awesome gradient. Rebbeca Bennett/Giddens (Green Bay Wisconsin) is 5th going into the finals.

A Cheesehead in Margaritaville going for gold. Craig, if she wins, I think you'll have a new official state drink and it won't be milk! Maybe you can work some cheese into it however. I saw Cartwright, Martikans, Mcintosh and Estaguet's 2nd runs this morning on CBC (canadian) coverage. Claudia van Wickt of MKC could use lessons from our Wausau play by play on how to give good color commentary. Not that she was bad, but she could be so much better. She probably did wonders with the Dubs runs though. pjc

martikan and estanguet made that look so easy. i couldnt believe how many guys flipped. that course is stompin! definitely some big time whitewater. LOTS of mandatory offside surfs.
that was a shame that chris flipped and is out of it now, hopefully they'll still show the finals tomorrow on NBC.
slalom rules.

.... I wish she would loose the lame helmet and race with a cheesehead on... show Wisconsin your pride sister! Pat... I don't know if we are P.C. enough for the airwaves, or the internet! It was great seeing all the other C1 runs though... too bad for Chris. The water is moving "seriously" fast... I don't know that I would want to spend much time upside down though. I am stoked that it was on TV today during... we have a tele' at work for watching the Cub's games but today we had the Oly's on...

That course definitely has made for some exciting TV viewing. Real sad for Chris Ennis. He was looking real good like he was easily going to place in the top 12 and move on to the finals. Why did they have to add a "paddle snake" to that course?
I have mixed feelings about that course, mainly over how the c-boaters do not really get to take more than 2-3 forward strokes between gates. But, that's the nature of a race course that needs to have spectators watching, I guess. The saltwater certainly adds a different "flavor" to the water. Based on the prelim. performances, MacIntosh (Brit racer?), Estanguet, and Martikan are definitely going to be the ones to watch in the finals. It'll be interesting to see if the Brit racer is going to beat out the other two?
Jon Lugbill certainly sounds like he's having a really good time commentating on the races. Makes me chuckle to hear some of his comments.
Now, for the c-2 races and c-1 finals!

well it's official: estanguet takes gold, martikan silver, pfannmueller (?) takes bronze. this is exactly what people expected! rebecca giddens took silver in k1-w.
it really is cool to hear Jon Lugbill. it was even funnier last olympics when davey was racing. the courses at the olympics were definitely short -- but hard, with lots of surfing. i guess that's good for guys like me. time for the next artificial course to have a 10-footer in it . . .
