Well, much to my chagrin, Vioxx, "The drug with no side-effects" is being pulled for the very fact that it has side effects. -sigh-

I'm glad that I read the article first because I was going to tout Celebrex as your ideal replacement (my NSAID of choice), but Shah pointed out, factually, that many over-the-counter (otc) drugs can be just as effective. Celebrex has proven to be much safer cardiovascularly than Vioxx, though I will always hesitate to promote it as safe against gastro-intestinal bleeding for 2 reasons: 1). this bleeding is a recognized side-effect RISK in ALL NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), including otc's; 2). I'm not qualified to speak as an expert in the pharmaceutical field.

Before going after the prescription stuff, definitely give the otc NSAIDs (I just LOVE throwing out all those initials ). Ibuprofen (Nuprin, Advil, et. al.) and Aleve (a naproxen) have been on the market for a long time. You're not out of options, yet.
