I came across this cheap paddle: fiberglass blade, carbon shaft, 500 grams. $US 60.

Anybody know anything about a company called seven2?

They sell 'em on eBay. Do you get what you pay for?

The yak paddles like that are pretty cheap, that C paddle looks like the same construction.

I have to agree with mshelton on them.

Cons
:-? Not super sturdy with thin shaft
:( Set hand placement grip
:o Mostly all black (see next item) hard to see in water
 Do to construction - light weight and small shaft they tend sink on you in water and disappear (forever). Some of the local kayakers bitch about them being simply disposalable.
Pros
:-? Cheap so semi disposal (back up) - your not suppose to drop them when paddling (or maybe that's just a yaker thing). I added foam pipe insulation to ends of the boy's k stick and taped it into place with bright colored electrical tape.
:) Light weight easy to use for youth, etc. I bought a yak one for my son and its great for him. Again K model experience only here.
:) Set hand grip - at least in the k model this is a plus for my son (age 9) who is figuring things out.

Overall I'd say pass unless you need a cheap back up or a stick for the kids (my boy is getting a mohawk - cheaper).

But then others might think differently. Personally I think the set hand grip would drive me nuts but then I have tape on my sticks so I can feel were I am on the shaft in times of need!

So take my $.01 for what it is worth! Let us know if you get one and if I'm way wrong!

I tried a touring kayak paddle briefly (rescuing a swimming sit-on-top pilot) and thought it had a kind of springy, whippy feel - not bad in the long paddle. Probably not so pronounced in a shorter, C-stick. I thought it was kind of neat, but the sinking thing would give me that sinking feeling...
