I made a composite one, glassed up a little playboat (got a pigeon tail too) ans a minicell paddler. Ther're great for the summer when the water's low and the holes aren't big enough for you, drop your foamie in it.

Marshall, you one upped me. Glass huh? Cool
I used polyethelene for the hull of mine with minicell for the deck & paddler. A yellow smilley faced antenna ball
for the head (this really helps you find him). I carved a fudgecicle stick for the paddle (yes, a canoe paddle). Look for another material for the paddle, I broke a couple of shafts. No balast was needed, he just rolled up every time
Try to make the ends low volume if you want him to stay in the hole & throw a bunch of ends. Otherwise, he'll flush out early. Low volume ends also help them loop.
The two that I made do really well in small pourover type holes. But don't be afraid to toss him in the big stuff. The only problems with playing in big holes is that often you can't see over the foam pile to watch him. Although sometimes he'll get BIG air & do loops with multiple airborne flips
You always need to keep a check downstream, 'cause sometimes he'll mystery out of the hole & resurface downstream
. Bright colors are helpful.
You can make foamies completely from foam, but I understand that you have to add balast to teach them to roll. Here's a site with some neat ideas:

Glassed up a foamie?
You must really like messing around in the vapors! When you going to start making some glass boats for your c-1 buddies?
So what layup did you use for the foamie?

It's 3/3 layup, allthough I think 2/2 would be enough.
I may try to make some this winter in the basment.
Maybe if enough people make one there can be a c1/fc1 armada
fc1 = foamie canoe one

Does anybody know where I can get a copy of the original? Foamy Boating video that won the audience favorite category at the 2004 NPFF? I laughed, I cried, I was completely mesmerized- and i want a copy under my tree this Christmas!
