For Christmas I am needing a new piece of thermal layering. Would I be better of to get an IR thick skin longsleeve or a long sleeve Fuzzy Rubber? I already have an IR Shorty Competition jacket that I love but need some warmth for my forearms and stuff. Is their anything else that anyone would recommend?

get the thickskin. Fuzzy Rubber doesn't layer well, or at all.

I don't know what you have as a base layer as of now but i would suggest Under Armour, it is great for pretty much all active activities and will keep you nice and warm year round, here is a link to the msot reliable site i have ever ordered sports gear from:

I don't know how cold your water is here but when its chilli I throw the NRS pungo sweater (fleece without a collar ) under my dry stuff, works quite well , not too hot not too cold
Come to the pool after the Holidays...

It's the C1er from Seymour again. I would recomend coming to the pool after the holidays and talking to some of the paddlers there personally to get a feel for what different people do.
Personally, I stay pretty cheap. Any generic (quality) fleece sweater (without a collar) works good under a drytop. You don't have to spend a lot of money and you can even buy several different weights. Then once you know what you really want the spend the big money. (I still haven't figured out what I want after 5 year and still wear the same old generic fleece I bought years ago...)
Check out the HCC website (and Link to the board) for info:

Fuzzy Rubber

I had to borrow a fuzzy rubber long sleeve top last Saturday which I wore over a long sleeve polypro. No drytop. Air temp around 35F water had ice in it. The sun was bright and the wind was nil.
It was very comfortable except when I put my arms in the water. Then the COLD water gave me a chill right up to the elbow. Brr!
I did warm up quickly after though.
