From John Pinyard:
The mild winters and access to great flatwater and easy whitewater make Atlanta a great spot for a Wildwater Winter Training camp. We had an outstanding Wildwater Training Camp last year and it's time to RSVP for the 2005 Chute the Hooch Wildwater Training Camp and Race (Jan 15-16). The camp is open to anyone who is currently training Wildwater or any accomplished paddler who is interested in the sport (a wildwater boat or similar design is required). The training camp in conveniently divided into an all flatwater day (with video) on Saturday and a whitewater day on Sunday.
Please RSVP for one or more of the following:
1) I want to attend the camp (let me know what days and what you'll be paddling). We will limit the size to 25 paddlers.
2) I'm an accomplished paddler but need to borrow a wildwater boat for the camp (let me know what you need).
3) I'll need a home stay.
4) I'm willing to provide housing for training camp participants on Saturday PM.
5) I'm willing to shoot video on Sat. a.m. (starting at 10:30 a.m.)
6) I'm willing to run shuttle on Sunday for the 10:00 a.m. workout or the 2:30 p.m. time trial.
Safety information: All participants agree that they assume all personal risks associated with the training camp and are fully capable of self rescue. Paddlers agree to wear a life jacket will paddling and a helmet and life jacket when they are on moving water. For more information about the river and the area, see these links:
