I've enjoyed my open recreational canoe for several years and am interested in purchasing a C-1. With a little looking and reading, I've come to believe that an Atom or a New Wave "Sleek" may suit me well as a novice. Any suggestions? I'd prefer to purchase a used boat rather than new.

Hi, Jamana. Since you asked, I'll answer. I say get an Atom rather than the Sleek. The Atom is c-1'er specific and will give you lots of opportunities to learn how to be a better c-boater (especially rolling 
). The Sleek is designed to be paddles as a kyack and nail stern squirts like a champ. the boat would be too squirrelly for you to learn how to boat, though you would definitely have plenty of opportunity to work on your c-1 roll
