Alternative rolling techniques?

Post by eldave »

The thread on rolling planing hulled open boats, high brace, etc. got me thinking (a rare enough event these days, it seems). Ok, so I have a really solid low brace roll, both in open boats and c-1's of all flavors. What other techniques are there? How can I make it faster, better? What is a high brace roll, or an offside roll? What other ways of rolling could I try to broaden my bag of tricks?
Any tips are appreciated!

other rolls

My all time favourite is the log roll. This is where you get out of shape on the river and end up broached on a sweeper. The next move is to roll over the log and save your butt. :o As imagined not needing to do this roll (like all other rolls) is the key to being a good paddler.

Just kidding
