Tess,
Yes, I have boated the Esopus. It is a fun class 2-3 with one class 3+ rapid called 'Railroad', as I recall. Can't make it this weekend. I am now living in Reno, NV  Hope you get a decent release, that would make it a whole lot better.

From the descriptions it looked like it'd be a fun little run - we'll see!!

Happy Boating!

Esopus

Tess:

Railroad Rapid at the Woodland Valley Rd. Bridge is also the site of the Esopus Slalom (organized by KCCNY) this weekend (see their web site at www.kccny.com. Late registration is available at the site (until about 11 AM Sat.) if you're interested. There's nothing quite like running gates to build up your river running skills! There are two slalom races on this site each year. The June race is for decked boats only. The fall Esopus (Oct. 1 & 2 this year) is run by the ACA Atlantic Division Open Boat Slalom Committee and is for both open and decked boats.

The Esopus is a fun II-III run in its own right, as well.

John
