I know this topic has been discussed over the past alot, however, i didnt really fint any definitice answers in my search. So I guess my few questions are:
Does it help with the wrists, and comfort?
-Never having any trouble, im not sure it would make a difference, but im always willing to try something once... almost.
I have read that it doesnt improve the reach being that it is line an inch or two making it negligible, but how does it feel while doing other corrective strokes?
Is there any stiffness lost with it compared to a straight shaft?
I noticed that none of this years olympic athletes seemed to use them, however in 2000 tony estangauy used one. So i guess what it boils down to is does it help, or hinder paddling?
cheers

contact for someone who uses a bent shaft
Issac,
Here is an email for a world class slalom c-1 paddler that uses a bent shaft Galasport paddle. I think he will not recommend a bent shaft for recreational paddleing.

re your ergo shaft questions.
1. I like you have never had any trouble with straight shaft. Have noticed nothing with the ergo shaft.
2. Works fine for correction strokes.
3. No loss of stiffness.
4. Interesting Olympic point. I have no knowledge/comment.
Additional information.
1. Many kayakers use the kayak ergo shaft paddles.
2. My ergo shaft is a Climax, creek version. I find is heavy for playboating. I also have difficultly rolling with it although I have not really used it enough in my C1/playboats.
3. I use the ergo shaft on wilderness river trips. The creek version is very tough, perfect for long wilderness rapids (mile long).
4. Very easy to landmark your shaft hand.
5. I use a shorter shaft length with the ergo shaft.
I'm interested to hear what others think.
