Norway calling

Post by Joey »

ive been in norway for a little over 2 weeks now. this place is crazy. water drops from the from the heavens and there is more gnar per square mile than you can shake a stick at. most of my days have been filled with guide trainings and rafting. thats fine by me since the weather is still really cold for this time of year. we all hope that next week will bring more sunshine and high water.

i am working one the otta river near skjåk. the skjåk wave is right out the back door of my cabin. this is where the 2000 european championships were held. this wave lives up to the reputation. it huge, and it is always there. life is good when you have a 4' standing wave in the back yard. i have been paddling about 3 days a week. we managed to get in the local canyon the other day. this was really fun. super steep class 4-. the most stress free creeking i have ever done, and the steepest thing i have ever run in a playboat. its just 5 minutes from my cabin. we havent been doing to much creeking because most of the group doesnt have creek boats. that should be taken care of soon, thanks to bliss-stick-. i get a lot of funny looks paddling c-1 here. the locals told me that they saw two c-boaters here last year. i hope they come back to keep me company.

anyway, life is good, and if the sun would shine for a few days, life would be even better. i have some stories posted at www.singlebladefury.blogsot.com i should have some pictures and trip reports coming soon. if anyone is going to be in the area, let me know. i have a couple boats if anyone wants to paddle one of them. --- joey
