While I'm sure airlines loses boat all the time, this struck me as quite strange that my son's (Chad Lewis, Boater talk terrorist) two boats were taped together. He get home and the boats aren't here so Delta and BOAC say they will find them and ship them to our house. Well today Delta show up with the new boat still has the remints of the duct tape but the old boat and all his gear are gone. Be on the look out for a new slolom racer in an old boat who has a day job as a baggage handler.

Louie:
If the old boat had all the gear it's possible that it was separated in transit because of the weight - either by breaking the tape during handling or because the embarkation handlers had trouble dealing with the load and separated the two on purpose to make it easier to handle. If the new boat had the luggage tags and the old boat didn't have any tags or identification, then the airport handlers at the destination or at any connections in-between may not have realized that the two belonged together. If a baggage handler was really involved in theft, he/she probably would have taken the new boat!
