Whatever happened to Armerlite by June? If I don't get to demo one soon, I'll have to do something desperate.

Homes
Hi K
I have seen the boat here in Switzerland (at Kanuchule Versam on the Vorderrhein) but not paddled it. It is a super sweet looking design - like a super-pulled in Ocoee. The material looked interesting and seemed fairly light, but without paddling one and beating it around, I can't comment more than that. I can atleast say that they're our in Europe, so should be in the US soon.

A good friend of mine had a demo boat for his courses.
I try to get him to write a review. He said the boat is quite a bit lighter
than his We No Nah Kevlar Edge.
Have you talked to Chris and Anna about when they get one?
Robert from Robson mentioned that he would sent Homes to the US.
Call Chris and Anna from Robson USA and see what they say...
I think they have them at the OR show, too.
Cheers, Jan

Yes, the Homes was at the Outdoor Retailer Show
with a pricetag of US$2530. I can say that it was very well outfitted, beautiful trim work and great bag cages.
Though the Robson rep denied it, the Homes looks to be built of the same material (TwinTex) with which we (Esquif Canoes) will be producing our Zephyr to be introduced (at NOC's Canoe Week) September 10-15.
I can best describe the Zephyr as an 11'3" Zoom. We added 14" to the middle of the hull, then added 1.5" or width. There is a bit more rocker, and a slightly gentler edge. The APS (Active Pry System) dimples that were featured on the Zoom are not incorporated into the Zephyr. The Zephyr will weigh in at only 31 pounds.
I'll have more info available for you shortly on the Zephyr.
We'll also have the Taureau being officially unveiled at the same event at NOC.
I'm working on a special deal for folks interested in attending NOC's Canoe Week this fall. If you are interested, please drop me a line.
Talk soon,

david,
can you comment on the applications of the zephyr & this new twintex material? what weight class is the zephyr intended for (will it float us big boys?) ? is it going to be a high performance boat like the zoom, or has it been toned down enough for intermediate boaters (in my case, read - heavy old fart that only gets out occassionally to paddle these days ). are there any similar boats slated for design that will be in the 12 - 13 foot range for riverrunning that will be produced in twintex? what sort of adhesives can be used for outfitting these boats?
thanks,
trevor

Homes price and yippee Esquif
Oh! Anna had said the Homes would be $1600- The price you quote stings David. I look forward to Esquif's new boat. Also, will you have a Taureau at NOC canoe week? What weight range is the Taureau for?

Esquif Zephyr
Hey Will,
Good to hear from you. I heard that Tony is back working at the restaurant at NOC until he goes to med school this fall. He and Jennifer got married this summer and are both heading back to school.
Hi Trevor,
You are absolutely right, the Zephyr will be slightly toned down from the Zoom, it's not going to be as edgy, will be a bit longer with a bit more rocker.
This will be the only twintex hull that we've got slated for production right now (producing a mold that can handle the TwinTex costs much more than a mold for Royalex). I'm not certain on appropriate outfitting adhesives, but will put feelers out on that.
And finally Wendy,
Yes, I'll have a Taureau or two at NOC's canoe week. Weight wise, I'm 205, and I'm ok with it, I've heard some paddlers that weight 170 say that they feel great in it.
And for anyone else, please drop me your email address if you'd like me to forward you a photo of Jacques in his first on-water test of the first Zephyr proto.

zephyr
David I paddled the Glass one this weekend. It a little like the Zoom but a hellva lot more stable, reminded me a lot of a souped up Rival. Jaeques paddle it and he ain't a really little guy and it seemed to fit him fine. Paul Mason, Mark Shiver, and Andrew Westwood all made it look good. I don't think I did that much for it when I was in it, but then again I'll more than likely stay in the Taureau. I got to paddle my new one this weekend and the outfitting is the best I've ever used. Thick hull and a thin deck, good welds dam good boat.

Louie, I don't get it...
I'm repping from Maine to NC, and you're getting into our new boats before I am?
What's the deal? Are you traveling to Quebec? How did that Zephyr get by me?
Hope to see you around NOC's Canoe Week (Sept. 10-15, check www.noc.com)
Talk soon,
David

Zephyr
Cool looking boat- I'd love to try one at Week of Rivers
I only went to Ottawa, Jaeques brought it to the wedding
What river are you getting out on? This time of the year the place to be to get a lot of boat exspourse is Ocoee, around the Green and in the Smokies. So far I've take the Taureau on the Treemont, Cascades, Rocky Broad, and some other creeks I guess I've had about 70 or 80 people in it and about that many in the Zoom. Whick boat will you be paddling on the Gauley? I did a little of the Gauley in the Taureau last year, I guess this year I will get to do the whole thing in it. Are you goin to be at the Cheoah ? I think that the Zephyer will be a hit on the Ocoee and in the Southeast in general. The Taureau will be a hit with the creek crowd but we need to get some down here I've put all kinds of people in it but no one see them in the stores
