Robson?

Post by bearboater »

Okay, so i have a finky, great boat, no problems, when i ordered the finky i wasnt aware that mountain surf made a Finky skirt, so i ordered the Robson skirt. After failry low use, maybe 15-20 times in the lake and a 3-5 days on the river it's seam is deteriorating, pretty crappy. So I emailed Robson to see how they could help me, the reply i got was to try to take it to a shoemaker, and have him fix it for me. Theres no F-ing way in my right mind that im going to take that, this product should fall under a warranty especially with the litttle amount of use that it has. Has anyone else had any trouble with Robson, and if so how have they dealt with it?
and if they do decide to bend me over, what are the recemmendations for replacements?
Is Mountain Surf the way to go?
cheers

Did you ever use it at a pool session? I know that will trash a skirt quick and fast if not rinsed properly.

Check with Chris or Anna at robsonusa.com or email Robert or Molly directly.

Hope it all works out! M/Surf skirts are great by most accounts. It might be worth buying one and keeping this (damaged) one as a back up.

pool sessions

Post by bearboater »

yeah i had two session in a pool, and i made sure to shower with the skirt(not with the soap) but i rinsed for about 5-10ish minutes after each session which lasted no more than 45 minutes. So I doubt that was a big factor, though a possibility.
I have tried to get into contact with Chris and Anna i have their phone #. But they have been unresponsive to my calls, i started calling them in mid-july. left maybe 3 messages then, and have tried going farther up the ladder since.
Robert Sommers was the one who said that i should check with a shoemaker to get it fixed.
Oh, woe is me.

Bearboater,

Go with Mountain Surf. And also try to get the Robson skirt fixed at a shoemaker. The pain will be less that way.

And think twice before ordering another skirt from Robson :-?

Mountain Surf

Post by bearboater »

So how much are these proposed mountain surf skirts anyhow?
I tihnk that i might still try to pursue this skirt business, because, well otherwise im out a skirt. and it wasnt cheap ill tell you that much.
So, since were on the topic of the Robson anyhow, do you have digi photos of your straps yet?
just checking, Im still thinking of how either you or martin have it set up some sort of bar between the bulkhead and the saddle to a) add strength, and b)make a spot to attach straps, and where did you drill?
cheers

Im gonna go home, and boat and bring the C-1 down to the Dorm Room, get a little system so it hangs on the wall, and likely mess around with the thigh strap thing this fall, and for the spring. Im still a little confused as to your method getting them in.
Cheers
