Scott, I recall from your outfitting page that you had a Score and an Ultra Clean...

How do their specs (length, width, room, volume) compare generally, and how does their performance (stabiltiy, speed, playness) compare?

If you had to own 1, as a 200lb+ river-runner paddler new to C-1 that wants comfort, speed and stability, but doesn't need to duplicate an open-boat feel and wants to try some play, which would you keep?

The Ultraclean was roomy, stable, and slicy but also slow, slow, and slow. It played OK, but was so slow I often had trouble getting to a feature and it made a poor river runner for me. It was stable enough to take a nap in. Did I mention that it was slow?

The Score is a touch longer - maybe 4" - and considerably faster. It plays as well or better and makes a good river runner for me. It may be a touch less roomy, but you would have to be pretty big for that to be a problem. It does not handle as well if I let my weight drift up to the 220+ range - but then again my pedestal is nearly 9" tall...

The Z is also a good conversion for 200#+ river runners, not as slicy and not quite as fast. It might be a little more at home in creekish situations than the Score because it is not as pointy and might have a little more volume in the ends.

Go for the Score!
