I love my Spark!

Post by ChrisKelly »

At first I thought it might be just new boat lust. This weekend I got out on the St. Francis, a river where every wave, hole and feature is familiar. I got to compare it in a known environment. It was just super! I was making my standard attainments faster and some that I rarely get much easier. The boat acted like it was painted to surf waves; it did not want to leave. The one aspect where it did not do as well as I wanted was sade-surfing. Even there it was reluctant to just do the ole "stay sideways in the hole" open boat thing. It very much wanted to spin. I attribute this to the rocker. I think that when I learn to use the hull better it'll be spining very well thank you. I just never wanted to quit paddling. Flipped four times out of pure messing around and rolled all four. The sectin we ran is less than 3 miles and I was on the water for almost four hours. Mr old body was so tired I coulod barely walk to the truck.
Now, I am sure that those of you who know me will say "well sure, but that is just Chris' style, grace and skill".
Truse me, it is the boat.
This canoe really makes me want to paddle more and to do more. . I encourage anybody who likes fast canoes to try the Spark. I think that as soon as folks get a taste they are going to want more. Chris Kelly

PS The sad thing is Ihave to admit that both Louie and Wayner were right. They both said I'd like this boat.
