We really enjoy our Dimension. The boat makes us look good playing, stable, forgiving, and fun.

Any thoughts on a VertigeX as the next step up?

It's a great boat. I found it dry, quick to turn (for that size). Even solo it paddled really nice and can handle all kinds of whitewater.

Try one out!

I got finished outfitting mine for the fall, for tandem and solo, and haven't had too much of a chance to paddle it. 3 or 4 days of class II-III tandem runs, but it feels great so far! I should try to post/link some photos for you (good picture of it ocean surfing in Jan's newsletter too!)

I can't compare it to the Dimension, but it is much like a Caption in specs and performance. If it gets wet, it tends to happen at midship while on a tilt, it's very stable healed over and genarally a pleasure to paddle and surf.

Besides, is there anything comparable available? What else is currently in that market, maybe only the Bell Nexus now that Mohawk is not making 14s?

I find the Caption a bit sportier than the VertageX. the Vx is a bit tougher to make a tight turn in than a Caption or Probe 14. The Vx is a good surfer (front and side) and runs dry - like Yarnel sez - most water shipped in in the midsection.

Very predicable design - so far the toughest water we've been on is the lower Yough sub 3ft level.

The boat is difficult to manage when full of water but is very easy to roll - Never done a combat roll with my partner, but once she bails it comes up easy!

Of course for new production your choices are pretty limited...
