Yep. I have to ask this to the public at large. No offence to Louie or Andrew cause the first thing they'll say is "hades, yeah! Ditch the pod!!"

Is Tellico an ok river to do the first maiden voyage?? No reliable roll as of yet but plenty of folk ready to pluck me out of the rapid. I have normally paddled the river in a pod....

Carole

"Hades?" I didn't type in hades.

Carole,

A roll in an OC is definitely not a necessary skill to paddle the Tellico. It is a great place to work on your ferrys and eddy turns in the easier stuff.

You definitely want to start your trip on the middle section. For your first time on the Tellico in a OC you might consider putting in at Turkey Creek. Most first timers in a OC start here.

I would be happy to paddle it with you. I can bring a strong, support contingent of OC'ers up from Georgia in everything from Preludes to Captions. As of late the Tellico has not had that much water though. I haven't run it in a year and folks say the gage has changed. They say it feels like it it's .3 to .4 of a foot higher than the gage level.

Just my 2 cents worth,

Michael
